But with your friends you are very trusting and believing. This is what makes many friendships unsafe and treacherous to you.

A true friend will be with you in all ups and downs of your life. You can trust him with your life. He will speak frankly about your negative aspects right in your face.

A true friend will talk about your good aspects behind your back also. Such a friend is a rarity.

1. Your jealous friend backbites

Your jealous friend shows perfect friendliness only before you. He says pleasant things about you in your presence. He literally oozes compliments about you. Naturally you are taken in by his fake pleasantness.

Your friend praises you in the face and downgrades you behind your back.

This is not what a true friend does, isn’t it?

A true friend is blunt and true to you. He says whatever he wants to say right in your face. He pinpoints your mistakes without holding it back. But your jealous friend never does it.

He inwardly wants you to commit mistakes so that you will fall flat on your face.

Your envying friend gossips about your personal life behind your back. He spills out all your secrets you trustingly shared with him.

2. Your jealous friend is distracting

A good friend is proud of your achievement. He appreciates your talent. He encourages you to do better. He wants you to succeed.

But your jealous friend is never encouraging. He has only negative things to say about the work you do.

Your friend pulls down your energy by uttering discouraging words about your endeavors to succeed in life.

He says your efforts are useless and that you are doing it the wrong way. Your untrue friend is so envious that you might succeed, that he often stops your work by distracting your attention.

He steals your time which you would have otherwise spent on making efforts to succeed. He deliberately makes your concentration go awry by diverting you.

Your jealous friends make you feel depressed by making it seem that your success can never be achieved.

3. He is criticizing

When you look good, your jealous friend cannot bear it. He makes fun of your appearance with the intention of making you feel bad.

He gives false advice which is sure to fail.

He makes fun of your efforts by saying it is not possible. His intention is to make you forgo your efforts. He just cannot bear to see you succeed.

He lets you down before others as he is waiting for a chance to degrade you.

4. He never looks directly at you

Does your friend avoid direct eye contact with you?

He looks all over the place except at you when you are looking good. But he looks at you when you are not watching. This is an emphatic sign of his jealousy.

He never gives appreciative comments when you are looking good. But he instantly passes degrading comments when you look your worst.

When others praise you, he deliberately looks away as if he did not hear their appreciation. Inside he is seething with jealousy about all the appreciation you are getting. He is that envious of you.

He never calls you when you achieve something great. But he is first to enquire when you are down and out. It gives him incredible pleasure to see your defeat.

His smile never reaches his eyes.

5. He never conveys the right messages

When someone asks him to pass any important messages to you, he coolly forgets it.

But when he hears something negative about you, he immediately calls you to pass on the message.

He creates rift between you and your true friends by spreading needless rumors which did not happen.

He is jealous that you have what he does not have. And so, he never wants you to be happy.

6. He copies you

Your friend is jealous of your appearance, your social status and your family life.

He copies your way of dressing and the way you talk. He imitates you but would never agree to it.

Have you bought a new mobile – he buys the exact brand.

Have you bought a new car? – He also does the same to keep in pace with you.

He feels you are his competitor in everything.

7. He comes between your other friendships

Your jealous friend tries to create a wedge between you and your other friends by telling them things you never said.

His sole purpose is to cut your friendship with them. He tries to get close to your other friends. He gradually makes your friends alienate from you.

Your jealous friend does not want you to have true friendship.
