Does an evil eye really exist in this modern age?

Many believe it exists.

However modern the world might be, human mind has many fears embedded in it. One such fear is about the effects of negative vibrations in their life.

Most of you feel that the negative vibrations spilling forth from the envy of others clearly affects your life.

Evil eye might not be scientifically proven.

And since there is no real proof that the envy of others could damage your life, a rationally thinking person ridicules the very concept of evil eye.

Before going deep into this subject, let me tell you that the belief in evil eye exists very much in India. Many Indians believe in evil eye. I too belong to one of those believing groups.

Why I believe in evil eye?

My daughter and I are the best of friends. We always play and tease each other. Those who see us always say that we look more of sisters than mother and daughter.

And our interaction was also very friendly and breezy. We fight, laugh and make fun of each other. Our friends\relatives looked at us with envy.

Whenever our relatives came home, they invariably looked in disbelief at the way we teased each other. And you would not believe it, the next day both would invariably fight without any rhyme or reason.

After making up, we will console each other that we fought because of the envy our friendliness caused in others.

The power of an evil eye is that awesome.

When you are ogled at with envy, it produces lot of negative energy around you.

It might not be proven scientifically. But if negativity is possible, evil eye is also possible.

Evil eye is supposed to be the outward negative effect of the envy of others. Your relatives or friends envy your well-being and affluence. They burn with plain jealousy. They cannot bear to see that you are flourishing. And the jealousy and envy of your friends\relatives creates tons of negativity around you.

And the toxicity and the jealousy of others, creates a temporary setback in your life. And the setback or a problem you suffer is the negative backlash of an evil eye.

The story of a young boy who believed in evil eye.

“I met with an accident because of the envy of my relatives” Shyam, a young man I knew told me.

“What happened Shyam?” I asked the boy.

“Aunty, you know how much I struggled before achieving this sort of a success in my business. I think my relatives are jealous of the affluence I am enjoying now” the young boy went on.

“Usually I was not invited to many of my relative’s marriages or family functions because of my poor social status” Shyam sounded cynical.

“Strangely after acquiring incredible success in my business, the doors of my relatives have opened out for me. Though I feel cynical as I know that their welcome is not for me but for my wealth, I do not openly show it. I go to functions my relatives invite me” the young boy paused for a second.

“Yesterday a relative of mine invited me for a get together. I went there in my latest car. I could feel that my relatives could not digest the fact that their poor relative who struggled to make both ends meet, could become so rich. Though they did not say it in words, I could literally feel the negative impact of their evil eye” Shyam smiled wryly.

“Do you what happened as I was returning home from the get together? On my way home, I met with an accident. I don’t know how it happened because I usually drive very carefully. I am dead sure that it is the evil eye of my relatives that made me meet with an accident” Shyam concluded.

I too felt that the young man was right in feeling so.

There is always an opposite to everything in this world, isn’t it?

So, when positivity exists in this world, it is only natural that negativity also exists.

If positive vibrations can work wonders to your life, then negative vibrations can bring trouble to it. The lessons of life is as simple as that.

Let us suppose you go to a party all dressed up. And you are the cynosure of many wondering eyes. The envy others feel about your beauty will have a definite negative impact on you.

When you come back home from the party, the negative influence of the jealousy others felt about your beautiful looks will make you feel tired and listless.

The negative after effects of an evil eye is only temporary. It does not affect your life. But it definitely affects your day.

You might argue that we are living in a scientific world, and it is brazenly naïve to have faith in such superstitious beliefs.

If you believe in positive vibrations, you must believe in negative vibrations also.

Positive vibration works wonders in your life. It motivates you to do your work with full fledged energy. Without positive vibrations, you can never be optimistic about your life.

Negative energy exudes undesirable effects in your life. And evil eye is an emphatic sign of terrible negative energy. When the negative energy of an evil eye becomes overwhelmingly dominant, it produces depressing and pessimistic result.

Customs in India to ward off evil eye.

In India, there are lot of customs which are done to evade evil eye from affecting you.

My mother takes five or six camphor and rubs it all over our body and makes us spit on it.

She then lights the camphor in the entrance of our house and convinces us that the bad effects of the evil eye have gone away.

My grandmother would take five or six dried red chilies and handful of rock salt and hold it tightly in her hands. She would then run her hands all over our body and make us spit on that. She would throw the chilies into the burning fire.

And when the chilies crackled loudly; my grandmother would say that the loud crackling sound of the chilies showed how intense the jealousy of others was. When the chilies turn into ashes, our evil eye is supposed to be thrown out.

Many Indians believe that you can also ward off evil eye by tying colored threads which are commonly sold in temples. In India, from the very rich to the very poor, you can numerous people wearing different types of threads tied in their wrists.

So, Westerners also believe in evil eye. It is human nature to want to protect themselves from negative energy. And evil eye is a source of negativity.

So, how do you protect yourself from an evil eye?

You should understand that the evil eye of others cannot destroy your life. It does not have that much of power. But it can destroy your day. It can destroy your mental peace, at least temporarity.

When you believe in it, you will definitely feel apprehensive about it. So, you can wear charms and amulets to ward off it off.

There is nothing to fear about evil eye. But you should definitely be wary of people who are outwardly friendly towards you, but inwardly seething with jealousy about you. In reality, they are your evil eyed enemies.
