How mobile phones ruin your relationships?

Do you know mobile phones ruin your relationships without you realizing it?

Yes!

Mobile phones have taken the world by storm.

Nowadays you feel very lost without your mobile phone.

  • You have your mobile phone in your hand, 24\7.
  • You take it along with you even to the toilet.
  • You sleep with your mobile phone right under your pillow.
  • When you talk with others, you often glance at your mobile phone to verify whether you have any new messages.
  • You do not notice what you are eating as your concentration is glued to your mobile phone.
  • You do not interact with your family as you find your mobile phone more interesting.

Most often you do not communicate with your family members as your mobile occupy your total attention.

Can you see how mobile phones ruin your relationships?

It is alarming that most of you just cannot live without your mobile phone.

Yes!

You feel completely lost without your mobile phone.

The complaint of a small boy about his mother using her mobile phone

“Whenever I want to talk with my mother, she says that she is so tired that she wants rest and that she will talk to me later,” my neighbor’s grandson was telling me.

“Your mother must be very tired from her hectic work schedule, Amar,” I told the small boy.

“I understand her tiredness. But what I cannot understand is my mother seems to feel tired only to talk with me. She never seems to tire of talking with her friends in her mobile for a long time” I was taken aback when the small boy hit the bull’s eye about the attitude of today’s parents.

Yes!

What Amar says is very true.

You feel tired to interact with your children. But you never seem to tire of talking in the mobile. You spend more time in the mobile than with your children\spouse.

This is very bad for your relationship.

It is indeed sad that mobile phones ruin relationships.

When you are obsessed with your mobile phones, you feel talking with your children is a compulsion, not an enjoyment.

How wrong you are!

Your children need your guidance. They need your attention. They need your quality time.

My experience in Dubai airport.

I was waiting for my flight to Texas in the Dubai airport. Since I was alone, I whiled away my time watching others.

I was amazed to see almost everyone glued to their mobile phones. They were not talking with their children. They were not talking with their spouse. They were not talking with their parents. They were busy with their mobile phones.

I was astonished to see that there was not a single person who did not have a mobile phone in his hand.

Almost everyone had their neck bent down to watch their mobile phones. My attention was particularly attracted to a young couple who were sitting right in front of me.

The wife was keenly watching her mobile phone. Her husband was also glued to his mobile phone. And their small daughter aged somewhere around six to seven had a tablet in her hand. She was very busy watching rhymes.

In my two hours stay in the airport, the parents scarcely spoke with their daughter. Neither did the daughter bother to talk with her parents as her whole attention was fixed on the animated figures in her tablet.

It was when the announcement for check in was made did the parents put away their mobile phones.

This was bad for the girl, I told myself. I also felt sorry for the small girl. She was growing up in a non-communicative atmosphere.

Most parents have one common complaint against their children.

They say that their children do not communicate with them. I am not at all surprised when your children grow up into silent and non-communicating adults.

How will your children feel like talking with you, when you did not talk with them during their young age?

Your children have forgotten to communicate, as you did not bother to talk with them. Unless you draw yourself away from your mobile phones, you will never feel like interacting with your children\spouse\parents.

Whenever I go out, I often see people messaging as they walk in the streets. I am also terrified that these people might meet with an accident as their attention is not on the traffic, but on their mobile phones.

I also frequently see people clinging on to their mobile phones for their dear life. They behave as though if they did not check their mobile phones often; they would be missing something very important to them.

Unless you understand that mobile phones ruin relationships, you will never know that you are missing out many beautiful things life offers to you.

You miss the mischiefs of your children. You miss interacting with your spouse. You miss making your parents feel loved.

It does not spell good for you. It does not spell good for your children. And it does not spell good for your family life

The other day I was invited to the wedding anniversary of my friend. Her grandchildren, sons, daughters and their husbands were all there to wish my friend. Everyone had their mobile phones in their hands.

They never put aside their mobile phones to interact with their relatives. Everyone was busy taking selfies and sending it to their Facebook friends.

What more evidence do you want to see that mobile phones have literally stormed into family life?

Why is mobile phones dominating modern life?

The world as a whole has turned hectic. You have to hurry around doing your work. So, you are always keyed up and impatient. You do not have the patience to interact with your family members as you feel it will lead to wanted arguments.

Mobile phones do not argue with you. Instead, it gives you many spicy things to do with it.

  • You can browse the internet wherever you are.
  • You know about the activities of your friends through social media.
  • You can make many friends through Facebook.
  • You can chat with your friends for hours together.

When you have so much to do with your mobile phones, you scarcely want to talk with your family. Family members always argue with you. So, you cling on to your mobile phones as a substitute for relationships.

  • You have your mobile when you are driving.
  • You have your mobile phones when you are taking your dog out.
  • You have your mobile phones when you are with your parents\children\spouse.

This is a very dangerous thing to do. Of course, you cannot do without your mobile phones in this modern world.

It is indeed very useful to stay connected with people wherever you are. But it can in no way replace the direct interaction you have with people.

Mobile phones are no longer just a means of communication in this modern world. It is slowly but steadily cutting into our relationships.

I feel irritated when I hear the notification sounds from my mobile phones. When I look at the messages, it is nothing important.

I get notifications from Facebook about birthdays of people I have only nodding acquaintance. I never bother with it.

I do not take my mobile phone when I go to nearby places. There is no need for that, so I feel.

Of course, you need mobile phones. It is a gift from modern technology. But never let it become more important than your spouse.

Let it not become more interesting than your children. Let it not become more imperative than your parents.

Keep aside your mobile phones when you are with your family. Give them the attention you give your mobile phones.

CONCLUSION

“Technology can be our best friend, and technology can also be the biggest party pooper of our lives. It interrupts our own story, interrupts our ability to have a thought or a daydream, to imagine something wonderful, because we’re too busy bridging the walk from the cafeteria back to the office on the cell phone.” –  Steven Spielberg

Mobile phones can be your best friend. It can also be your worst enemy. Unless you know about its backlash, you will remain its slave.

Come out of its fettering clutches. You will now enjoy the beauty of your relationship with your parents\spouse\children.
