Do you know you should do what you like in your life, if you want to feel happy?

We have been taught from our childhood days, that we should be selfless and make others happy. And that being selfish meant that you are a person without character.

But times have changed so much so, that you cannot afford to be selfless and self-sacrificing in this mercenary world. When you are all-sacrificing, you will lose many things in your life. You will be foolish enough to financially help others, risking your own financial security.

When you are selfless, you will risk your own mental peace to make others happy.

When you are too selfless, you will be taken advantage of. And when you are too giving, everything will be taken away from you.

Never ever be, all giving and all sacrificing.

Understand the simple fact, that the world has turned so selfish that no one cares what happens to you.

So, you have to take care of yourself. If you are all sacrificing and self-effacing, you will be trampled and crushed by this mercenary society.

Do you feel guilty when you do things that makes you feel happy?

Do not be.

Do you depend on others to make you feel good?

You will be disappointed.

Do you sacrifice your wishes and desires to make other people happy?

You are ruining your life.

No one has the time to make you feel happy, as everyone is busy looking after themselves.

So, only you should do things that makes you feel happy. Your life is your own. You have to live it on your own terms and conditions.

You cannot live an all sacrificing life and expect happiness from others. You are not a saint, that you do not have any personal wishes and desires.

If you live for others, you will not have space for yourself. Your dreams will be crushed. You will be used and thrown away.

You know what is good for you more than anyone else. So, do things you like and enjoy your life.

Here are some simple tricks to make you feel happy

1. Be kind to yourself.

Do not push yourself too hard to prove to the world that you are intelligent and smart. You will burn out.

You have your own pace of work. You have your own style of doing things. Stop multi-tasking as your energy will soon cease to exist.

Do everything your way. Not in a way, others want you to do.

Never over-strain yourself. If you are not perfect in your work one day, do not define yourself as unfit to succeed. Understand that your stressful day, is just one of your bad days and does not make your entire life hopeless.

If you are slow in doing things, it is your way of doing things. There is nothing wrong in it.

Be kind to the person you really are.

2. Throw away people who deliberately hate you

Never feel guilty to throw away people who make your life a mess.

Do not mingle with people who suck your energy.

Never be friendly with people who stab you behind your back.  

They do not deserve you.

Be merciless in making unwanted people disappear from your life. If you allow these toxic people to meddle with your life, you are never going to feel happy.

You have more to do to your life, than caring for such selfish people who give you tons of unwanted stress and tension.

3. Pamper yourself

Do not forgo all good things in life and lead a deprived life. Do not be an all sacrificing parent\spouse. You deserve all the good things in life.

Eat healthy food.

Wear good clothes.

Have good sleep.

Enjoy watching your favorite shows.

Have your own me time.

Indulge in a good relaxing vacation.

4. Learn to say no

Do not allow people to thrust their work on you.

You were not born to do other people’s work. If you allow people to take advantage of you, your life is not yours.  

You have your own work. When you are too obliging, people willingly thrust their work on you. Eventually, you will feel so fatigued and exhausted that you will be unable to do your own work.

You have all the rights to say no when you are forced to do things you do not like.

5. Do not be a people pleaser

Do you forgo all your interests to be liked by everyone?

No.

Do not do that.

Have your own interest in your mind.

Do what your mind dictates you to do.

Do not sacrifice your wants, to fulfill the wants of others.

When you do not know to say no, you will be taken for a ride, all through your life.

6. Never forgive people who destroyed you

You need not take revenge on people who destroyed you. You have more work in hand, than go all out to take revenge on people who did bad to you.

Karma will take care of it. No one can escape it.

But never forget the bitter lessons you learned from these people.

Never ever give a place for such people in your life.

Forget them completely.

They no longer exist in your life.

7. Be forgiving

Forgive people who have hurt you. Unless you forgive the toxic people in your life, you can never forget them.

Remembering the toxic people who messed up your life, is the worst punishment you can give yourself. When you forgive these toxic people, you will cease to think of them.

You deserve much better things in your life, than ruining your peace for some worthless person.

8. Have your own sweet me time

Are you a dutiful spouse\parent who never enjoys time for yourself?

You are living your life wrongly.

Unless you have your personal space, you will not enjoy your life.

You have all the rights to have your own personal zone.

No one has the right to enter it.

You can be self-centered on your interests, without feeling guilty that you are being selfish.

9. Prioritize yourself

Put yourself in the top of the priority list.

No one will look after you, when you are down and out.

You came into this world alone, and you are going to disappear from the world alone.

No one is going to share your burden or sorrow.

So, be your own king\queen.

10. You have the right to fulfill your dream

Everyone has a dream of their own.

You too have one.

Never let it go, for the sake of others.

Follow your gut instinct.

Follow your dreams.

You have every right to do it.
