Do you think Nature is cruel? Not exactly!

How many of you have felt that Nature is cruel?

I am sure most of you have. There are times your life is thrown off balance by unexpected natural calamities. There are times you lose your precious ones to Nature’s fury. There are times you are rendered homeless.

There are times when your property is ravaged by the fury of Nature.

In your anguish, you curse that Nature is cruel.

But you are wrong if you think so.

Your life is interlinked to Nature. You cannot live your life without the resources Nature has lavishly gifted you.

Can you survive without water?

Can you survive without air?

Can you survive without sun?

Did you create any of these wonders of Nature?

Are these not the gifts of Nature?

But, we scarcely understand the importance of the gifts of Nature and misuse it in the worst possible way. If only we understood the role of Nature in our life, we would never try to wreck its beauty.

Nature is actually very beautiful, isn’t it?

  • Swiss Alps
  • Himalayas
  • Mount Everest
  • Niagara Falls
  • Great Canyon
  • Amazon forest

These are just a few of the Natural wonders of Mother Earth.

Nature has always evoked a sense of wonderment in me. I feel overwhelmed by the Natural scenic beauty created by God.

But, why does the beautiful and serene Nature turn vicious at times?

Why does Nature demolish the world by its sheer fury?

You feel very small and helpless when Natural calamities strike you, don’t you?

You feel powerless when you meet Natural calamities at its full force.

And in your helpless anger, you think that Nature is cruel.

  • The devastating earthquakes.
  • The brutal tornadoes which sucks up everything in its way.
  • The furious volcanoes spitting forth scorching lavas.
  • The terrifying tsunamis which absolutely destroys everything on its way.
  • The hurricanes which literally destructs everything in its vicinity by its pounding rage.

All these Natural calamities makes you sure that nature is cruel.

What are some of the worst Natural calamities the world has faced?

  • Haiti earthquake -2010
  • Pakistan earthquake – 2005
  • Nevada del Ruiz Volcano Eruption- 1985
  • The Japan tsunami which occurred on 11\3\2011
  • Great Chilean quake May 20 1960.

Thousands of innocent people lost their lives for no fault of theirs.

Is there any country which has escaped from a Natural calamity?

I am sure there is none. Every country in this world has experienced some sort of a havoc in which nature has shown its merciless fury.

U.S.A is a super power of the world. But it can do nothing to stop the ruthless destruction which the tornadoes and hurricanes create in many of its states, year after year.

So, Nature spares no one.

The Nature which is so beautiful shows its violent side when it strikes us.

Can we now say that Nature is cruel?

Not quite!

There are times I feel that these Natural calamities is a bitter lesson to mankind.

Are you confused?

Man does not understand the value of Nature and plays God with it. He often intrudes into the natural pathway of Mother Nature.

What is the result of man playing God with Nature?

  • There are unseasonal snow in some countries.
  • Many countries experience severe draught and there is no water for irrigation.
  • Snow in some countries occurs at unprecedented seasons.
  • Global warming is at its worst.

Does Nature have any part to play in the plethora of plights the world faces today?

No.

All these are man-made problems.

  • Man cuts down trees unthinkingly. This destroys the ecological structure of the earth.
  • Industrial waste are dumped unthinkingly into rivers.
  • Plastic waste do immense harm to Nature. But many countries have not banned it.
  • The tall skyscrapers suck out most of water resources from the ground.
  • Forests are destroyed to make it habitable.

Can you see how much we intrude into the path of Nature?

Man wants to be known as all powerful. Sadly, he is not. He might invent many modern technologies. But he can never create Nature. In fact, Nature makes man bow his knees in helpless anguish when it shows its wrath.

What might happen if man has the power to rule over Nature?

Man will definitely play God. He will trample Nature. He will destroy the Natural environmental beauty of the world.

This is the reason that Nature will never allow it to happen.

Can you predict when an earthquake will strike?

No.

You cannot.

Can you prevent tornadoes, hurricanes, and cyclones?

At best, you can predict when it will strike. But, you can never prevent it. You cannot prevent tsunamis.

Your technical knowledge goes powerless before Nature. If man had the power to control Nature, he will go to the extreme end to trample its natural course.

It spells doom for the whole world. Man needs a warning from Nature that he has gone too far. So, Nature occasionally shows its awesome power by striking without warning. And the way it shows its power makes man feel like a tiny molecule before it.

If Nature was not so powerful and ruthless, man would go all out to destroy its beauty.

It is very heart-rending when innocent people are killed because of Natural calamities.

But we have to learn to live with it. We will continue to experience Natural calamities as long as the world exists.

What Nature gives cannot be replaced by man. What Nature destroys cannot be prevented by man. This is how powerful Nature is.

Even with all our technology and the inventions that make modern life so much easier than it once was, it takes just one big natural disaster to wipe all that away and remind us that, here on Earth, we’re still at the mercy of nature.’ –Neil deGrasse Tyson

God created Nature to give man the resources needed for his survival. But man wanted to conquer Nature.

How Nature can never be conquered?

It is Nature that controls man. It will always keep the world under its control.

Most of you think that Nature is cruel. It is not. It gives us so much. Rain, sunshine, water are all Nature’s gift to man.

Nature is the super power of the world.

Natural calamities are wake up calls to man. Mother Nature reminds him to remain human and not play god.
